Our Program

LEAD programDuring the school year, tutoring is designed to help students succeed in school. We meet on Tuesdays from 5:45-7:45 p.m. Dinner is provided and the first portion of each session is devoted to homework. Help is provided where needed and lessons in math, reading, and science are taught. Computer access is provided for our older student to do research and write papers. Our younger students have access to the computers when their homework is complete. They play computer learning games in math and reading and work in two  programs: Core 5 and Reading Plus – reading literacy and either ST Math -kdg-8th or ALEKS 9th-12th. We also meet one Saturday per month during the school year from 9a.m. to 12:45p.m. A breakfast snack and lunch is provided. On Saturdays, the students have individualized lessons in math, reading, science, and life skills. They also have art and computer on Saturday.

We meet on Monday, Tuesday,  Wednesday, and Friday from 9a.m.-12:45p.m. for the month of July. Four field trips are  scheduled in addition to the tutoring. The summer program involves lessons and individualized packets in the core academics as well as life skills, art, and computer.

LEAD programWe are also expanding our offerings by adding more academic experiences, bus service, and enhancing our food service to our children. These additional offerings augmented our long established supplementary activities such as L.E.A.D.’s Back to School Clothing and Shoe Drive, our yearly backpack and supplies effort, and the holiday gifts and food donations. We have formed many alliances in the community who supply our program with volunteers, finances, donations of clothes, food, and gifts. The St. Louis Zoo has given  week scholarships to the Zoo Camp to 11 of our children and some of our high school students have established a relationship with College Bound: an impressive organization that assists students with the life skills needed to apply, matriculate, and succeed in four year colleges. All these services are provided at no charge to our students and families.
